Lots of baseball stuff, and it's HOT!
It's SO hot here! It was 95 yesterday, and it's supposed to be 100 today. PLUS, as I've mentioned before, the majority of my house has no air conditioning, so I have to spend almost all of my day in Colin's room if I want to stay cool. That means lots of TV and reading.

You'll have to forgive the fact that the rest of this entry will most likely be about baseball, but I have nothing else to talk about.

Red Sox played a doubleheader (two games in one day) against Toronto last night and won both of them! 2-1 and 6-4. That means that I watched around 6 hours of baseball yesterday :-)

I realized a lot of why I like baseball is because it's one of the only team sports that is not very violent and where the players can be very sweet. Guys, especially athletes, are supposed to be all "tough and masculine" so you, like, never see them hugging, right? Well, it's really sweet when, in baseball at the end of a game, guys will hug. And there are some that do and some that don't. Also, between innings of the 2nd game of the doubleheader last night, the players found out that Johnny Damon got voted in as the thirtieth man on the AL All-Star team (yay!) and they were all giving him hugs. It's SOOOO sweet. Oh, and after the first game of the doubleheader, before Johnny was officially voted in, LouMer was doing an interview and he said, "Go vote for Johnny Damon, you still have a couple of hours." It was so nice! It's really nice to see teammates doing stuff like that, just to see that they actually are friends and that they like each other.

There's this guy on ESPN who I swear, just doesn't like the Red Sox. OK, first, Pedro announced he wasn't going to the All-Star game and the guy said that Pedro should at least go because he would be letting down the fans otherwise, and the All-Star game is all about the fans. This in itself I don't agree with, because Pedro is thinking of the fans by missing the All-Star game, because he thinks then he has a better chance of helping the Sox to the World Series. However, this guy also said, after Johnny was voted in, that it was stupid and that the voting was just a popularity contest. Ummm...hello? If the All-Star game is about the fans, why shouldn't the fans vote in whoever they want, no matter who he is? That's so dumb. Also, I think Johnny knew it was a popularity contest, because, when asked about his chances of getting voted in, he said, "Now we get to find out how strong Red Sox Nation really is." And there's his answer, pretty strong. I'll say this. I may have thought it was a better choice to have Magglio or Jim Thome in the All-Star game, however, Johnny is just as deserving. I think it's great that he gets to go, as it's his first time, and I know Glio's been before, and I believe Thome has too.

Last night=record setting night in baseball. 62 home runs hit all night in 16 games. The White Sox and Tigers tied a record of 12 home runs in a game set by...the White Sox and the Tigers, a long time ago. Glio got two homers, including a grand slam. Thome hit a two run home run as well, meaning he has homered in 6 straight games (record is 8.) Only one of the home runs came from either of the two Red Sox/Blue Jays games, and it was from one of the Blue Jays. It was a pretty impressive offensive night. Not too great for most of the defense, though...

So, yeah. Was that enough baseball for you? I'm sorry about that, but really, there is NOTHING about real life that is worth talking about, besides the fact that my mom brought me a large box of candy back from Texas :-)
